What is alt.fairs.renaissance (AFR)?
Well, alt.fairs.renaissance (and yes, we spelled that correctly) - also known as AFR - is a newsgroup on usenet where people who are involved with renaissance faires and festivals "gather" online to talk about renaissance faire related stuff.
Okay, so what the hell is this website for?
Many people on AFR travel to renaissance faires all over the country, either for fun or profit (or sometimes both!). This website is designed to make it easier for people visiting a faire to see who from AFR is going to be at that faire at the same time, so they have a better chance of getting to meet them.

If I'm on AFR, do I have to sign up on this website?
Not at all - its a free country! This is just intended to be a useful service for people who want to participate.
If I register for this website, do I have to be on AFR?
Not really, but it might be useful. You're more than welcome to use this site if you're involved with or interested in renaissance faires but are not on AFR - not everyone has the time to hang out lurking on newsgroups, right?
How can I access AFR?
You can most likely add alt.fairs.renaissance to your E-mail program as a News Account, and everything will work out smashingly. (Ask your ISP's tech support department for help with this.) If you can't get it to work, you can always use Google Groups or NewsOneNet to read and post for free.
If I sign up for Fairegoers.Com, what about my privacy? Are you gonna send me a whole bunch of SPAM, or pimp off my e-mail address to your friends for moolah?
Most certainly not. We hate SPAM as much as you do, and you'll only ever get e-mails from us if they actually have something directly related to new features that we've added. As for selling your e-mail address, we have no friends, so that's a non-issue.
Can I post whatever photos I want?
Within reason. We will NOT allow anything pornographic on the site, since several AFR members are under 18, and frankly, none of them want to see your bare ass anyway. Offensive material will be removed, and your account will be banned.
Who do I bug if I have a problem or if there's a feature I'd like to have added?
You'd want to bug Snipe at snipe@fairegoers.com - just a warning tho - she doesn't have oodles and skads of time, so she might not be able to get back to you right away. Your best bet if you're looking for a feature to be added is to post it to AFR itself, with Fairegoers.com in the subject of your post.
